Amy Mortimore and Mark Weintraub, Q.C., will be chairing the Trial Lawyers Association’s professional development seminar on estate litigation on April 7, 2017.
Taking an innovative approach to skills-building, Amy and Mark, Q.C., are creating a unique course that blends substantive law topics with an interactive chambers submission demonstration. One of the day’s presentations will include mock application scenarios in which participants will review fact patterns, make submissions to the Honourable Marion Allan, a former Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and receive real-time judgments and feedback on their oral advocacy.
The session will cover a broad range of topics that apply specifically to estate litigation, and those that apply more broadly, such as jurisdictional questions, contempt of court application and expert reports.
This exciting day will help participating lawyers to develop their professional skills in a practical setting. The seminar qualifies for 6 hours of structured legal education for 2017, including one embedded hour of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations.
