On August 16, 2012, the Canadian Securities Administrators added chartered professional engineers who are members of the Institute of Engineers Australia (Australia Engineers) to the list of potential “Qualified Persons” to author technical reports under National Instrument 43-101, Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects (NI 43-101).

The Australia Engineers join a list of other foreign associations whose members are eligible to be “Qualified Persons” as listed in Appendix A to NI 43-101. The CSA reminds issuers that the author must still meet other elements of the definition of a “Qualified Person”, such as relevant education and professional experience.
