Area of Practice Energy & Natural Resources, Corporate & Commercial and Commercial Real Estate. Profile Warren Brazier is Chair of the firm's Energy & Natural Resources Practice Group. Warren joined the firm in 2005 having practiced corporate & commercial and commercial real estate law at two national law firms, and a stint as in-house counsel at the world headquarters of a leading public company in the technology sector. Recognizing new opportunities in the renewable energy industry, Warren's practice focuses on renewable energy and climate change matters in British Columbia. Warren is a co-founder and regular contributor to Megawatt (www.bcenergyblog.com), a British Columbia renewable energy law blog. Warren received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 from the University of Western Ontario and his Juris Doctor degree from Whittier College School of Law (Los Angeles, CA) in 1996. Warren is a member of both the State Bar of California (1996) and Law Society of British Columbia (1998). Representative Work Energy & Natural Resources: Advising independent power producers on energy and natural resource matters, with a focus on renewable energy in British Columbia. Advising on wind, hydro, geothermal, biogas and other renewable energy matters. Advising on private and public land use contracts, joint ventures and government regulation on energy matters. Advising on the purchase and sale of natural resource projects in British Columbia. Participating in regulatory matters before the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC). Corporate & Commercial: Advising on general commercial matters, including the purchase and sale, leasing and operation of commercial aircraft, the purchase and sale and leasing of business equipment, and general business operations. Acting for buyers and sellers of small, medium and large sized businesses, on both asset and share purchase transactions. Experience with international corporate transactions. Acting for companies in the aeronautic, telecommunication and information technology industries. Advising companies on loan and security interests in various industries. Commercial Real Estate: Advising on acquisitions and dispositions of commercial real estate, including office towers, shopping centres, retail developments, apartment buildings, hotels, golf courses and marinas. Acting for developers of commercial, residential and mixed-use projects. Acting for both landlords and tenants on office, retail, shopping centre and industrial ground leases and leases of First Nations land.
