Construction, Expropriation, Business and Insurance Litigation. Representative Work Resolved construction deficiency cases ranging in value from $20,000 to $6,000,000. Used alternative dispute resolution to resolve a multi-million dollar claim for extras and changes on a road construction and infrastructure project. Helped commercial and private landowners receive additional land value and business loss compensation for expropriated land. Defended Canadian and American insurance companies and their insureds including construction contractors and subtrades, motor vehicle owners and drivers, manufacturers and distributors. Provided insurance coverage analysis for commercial general liability, builders risk, property, automobile liability and automobile accident benefit policies. Acted for insurance companies pursuing contribution and indemnity coverage from other insurers. Pursued and defended businesses in disputes involving franchise agreements, loans, land sales, fiduciary duties, fraud and use of confidential information. Successfully defended the validity of unique and complex strata corporation bylaws and recovered over $400,000 from commercial strata lot owners who refused to contribute to building repair costs. Profile Glen Boswall is a partner at Clark Wilson LLP and is a member of its Insurance, Business Litigation and Construction Practice Groups. Glen was born on in Prince Edward Island and received a Business degree under a scholarship from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1986. Having grown weary of potatoes, lobsters and Anne of Green Gables, he moved on to Nova Scotia where he obtained his law degree from Dalhousie University in 1989. While at Dalhousie, he played guitar for "Primal Janitor", a law school rock band. Upon graduation, he came to Vancouver, took an articling position at Clark Wilson and has been with the firm ever since. He has successfully taken many cases through court but is equally adept at negotiation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution. He recognizes that his role is to help his clients succeed and he employs cost effective strategies to that end. He provides his clients with frank and practical advice, keeps them updated and regularly seeks their feedback. Glen recognizes his obligation to the community and, to that end, contributes his time and expertise to the British Columbia Access to Justice program. Glen knows the importance of continuing legal education for himself and his colleagues and so he has been a long term member of Clark Wilson's Lawyer Training Committee. In that role, he has participated in preparing a comprehensive lawyer training curriculum and teaches courses on substantive and procedural law. He has also furthered his knowledge and educated others through publications and seminars.
